Honesty and Humility... Rice and Corn (By: Oluremi Ann Oliver)

It is true that a good teacher knows that they are always learning. I learned two very important lessons today.

The first is that one (meaning me or you) should never eat corn and/ or rice prior to teaching a class unless you are teaching from a stage in a very large lecture hall and your students are at least twenty feet away from you. Spitting on your students is way not cool. And by the way: did you know that the degree of bombing potential increases exponentially based on the amount of rice and/or corn consumed?

The second, and perhaps more profound lesson is this; that if you teach from a place of honesty and humility, your students will love you and will forgive you an occassional fall from grace even when it is that you have jspit on them.

  1. Good post Mom! I can recall the times when you spit food particles in my face... Glad to hear it wasn't personal.
